4 November 2018: Counting our content

The totals for our recent “count” are posted on the Statistics page at the bottom, or click here. We have 80 chapters, 7,700 topics (each item in the Table of Contents is a “topic”), 38,000 images, 45,000 references, 217 virtual slides and 172 videos. We recounted after we removed links to thousands of images that were broken or went to websites that we consider “unstable”. We now require Authors to send us images that they own. We post these images on our server where the links will never go bad. As an alternative, if necessary, we allow links to “preferred” websites, those which in our experience are credible and have maintained stable links over the years. Our preferred websites are IARC, Pathopic, Pubmed (NCBI), Radiopaedia.org, Webpath and Wikipedia. We are gradually removing image links to other websites to reduce the problem of bad links.
